Incumbent officials in several key Monroe County primary races have secured victories, according to unofficial results released by the Supervisor of Elections. All 33 precincts reported by late Tuesday night, with vote-by-mail and early votes fully tallied.

County Commission and School Board Results

Republican incumbent Michelle Lincoln successfully defended her Monroe County Commission District 2 seat against challenger Jorge “George” Ignacio-Lopez, garnering 59.67% of the vote. This district covers residents from Boca Chica to the 7 Mile Bridge, including parts of Marathon. Lincoln, first elected in 2018, previously served on the Marathon City Council for three years and as its mayor for one year.

In the race for the District 1 County Commission seat, incumbent Darren Horan defeated former schools superintendent Theresa Axford with 51.39% of the vote. Meanwhile, incumbent Dr. Sue Woltanski will return to the school board for the District 5 seat after defeating Chelyn Shaw with 64.05% of the vote. Phil Goodman, the current chairman, will continue his service on the mosquito control board for District 2, winning against challenger Alex Osborn with 62.46% of the vote. Goodman was initially appointed to the Florida Keys Mosquito Control District Board of Commissioners in 2011 and has been re-elected multiple times, serving as chairman since 2016.

Key West saw a contentious mayoral election conclude with Sam Kaufman defeating incumbent Mayor Danise “Dee Dee” Henriquez. Kaufman secured 58% of the vote compared to Henriquez's 42%. In the city commission races, Mark Rossi won against Bobi Lore with 55% of the vote, and Chris Massicotte defeated Greg Sullivan with 57%. The District IV city commission race will head to a November runoff between Sarah Compton, who received 42% of the vote, and Garcia, who garnered 34%. Juan Llera received 24% of the vote in that race.

The primary results also set the stage for November's general election in other races. Republican Byron Donalds will face Democrat David Jolly, and Republican incumbent Ashley Moody will compete against Democrat Angie Nixon.
