The annual Key West Rum Fest is currently underway, running from August 10th to August 16th. This week-long celebration brings together rum enthusiasts, distillers, master ambassadors, musicians, food lovers, and community supporters to honor a spirit deeply connected with the islands.
Festival Features and Beneficiary
The festival offers a variety of activities, including rum tastings, educational sessions, live entertainment, and culinary events, all designed to provide unique Key West experiences. A significant aspect of the event is its support for MARC, the Monroe Association for Remarkable Citizens. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to enhancing the lives of adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
The biggest boost for the organization takes place Saturday, Aug. 15, when Key West Theater hosts a Grand Tasting event from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Hosted by Neil Lindley and the Key West Rum Fest team, the Grand Tasting is the centerpiece of Rum Fest.
The Grand Tasting event, scheduled for Saturday, August 15th, at the Key West Theater from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., is highlighted as the primary fundraising opportunity for MARC. This event is hosted by Neil Lindley and the Key West Rum Fest team and is considered the festival's centerpiece. In previous years, the 2024 and 2025 events collectively raised over $50,000 for MARC. All proceeds generated from the Grand Tasting will directly benefit MARC's programs and services.
Grand Tasting Details
Attendees at the Grand Tasting will have the opportunity to sample a wide array of rums from more than 40 participating vendors. This provides a chance to meet the individuals behind some of the world's finest rums, including the makers, storytellers, and ambassadors. More information about the festival and its schedule can be found on the Keys Weekly website.
