Monroe County will host its annual National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 4, offering residents a chance to engage with local law enforcement, military personnel, and community partners. The family-friendly gatherings are scheduled to take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at four distinct locations across the Keys.

These locations include Key Largo Community Park, Founders Park in Islamorada, the Sheriff’s Office Aviation Hangar at Marathon International Airport, and Truman Waterfront Park in Key West. According to the Keys Weekly, the primary objective of National Night Out is to foster community unity and discuss strategies for creating cleaner, safer, and more secure neighborhoods.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet members of local law enforcement agencies, firefighters, and military personnel from various divisions and special teams. These individuals are all integral to public safety within the Keys. The events aim to increase community awareness regarding crime prevention.

Depending on the specific location, displays from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office elite units are expected, potentially including the dive team, SWAT, and crime scene investigation units. Other participating organizations will include the U.S. Coast Guard, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida Highway Patrol, Monroe County Fire Rescue, and representatives from Monroe County schools and local business chambers.

Participants will be able to view various vehicles and equipment utilized by these agencies. Informational materials and personal safety items will also be available.
